Nehru Trophy Boat Races 2009, Alleppey |
| 11.08.2009 09:19:10 | |
As some of you may have known, Greenlemon worked with the Alleppey Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) to market tickets for the Nehru Trophy Boat Races 2009 at Alleppey. The online ad campaign saw a great response. We were as surprised at the volume of ticket sales as the client. Indeed, most of our other advertising clients have also seen volumes that we didn’t quite expect, given that most of them are in industries that aren’t traditionally active online. We’ll want to post a case study on some of these soon – we’ll hopefully spare some time to be able to do that soon. Of course, this post comes a little late, given the races got over last Saturday. But what to do, there’s so much work, there never is time. :). Tags: Travel | Tourism | alleppey | boat races | SEM | PPC | advertising

How to Get Traffic from StumbleUpon? |
| 10.08.2009 07:22:33 | |
Have you been asking the same question? I often come across the worried subject title in many discussion groups. Problems range from no traffic to getting banned from the site. Just then thought of pointing out some factors that can help in this regard with diverse social media and bookmarking sites.
1. No stale topics. Your matter should trigger interest in the social media beings. It could be debated, controversial, current hot topic or simply anything that the readers might find interest in. 2. Interesting title. The title of your matter is the most important triggering factor. Make it catchy and also "searchable". It should intrigue and prompt the visitors to click right away. Read this: http://www.seobook.com/video-google-seo-friendly-page-titles. I hope this helps concerning few factors. 3. Build your network. Niche network. Because it is only your niche who is going to be interested in reading and reviewing your stuff. Not necessarily your school mates or college mates who may be merely interested in you and not your unrelated stuff. 4. Participate. Read and review others' stuff too. This way you become known and will help you build relationships and expand your network. 5. Be the first. Being the first to bookmark and review will draw a lot of attention to your profile. This can also help you build network and readers. 6. No self promotion. If you are going to simply put up your own stuff, people will despise you no matter how good your stuffs are. It conveys the message to the readers that you are out there to help yourself and not for sincere participation. Moreover, you are giving yourself good chances to be banned from the social media site. That was a quick thought. Remember one thing, building network and drawing attention does take some time. So don't get fed up or discouraged. Keep moving. It's a continuous effort. Tags: Traffic | Website Traffic | Social Media | Social Networking

Is Directory Submission Worth the Time & Effort? |
| 01.08.2009 07:41:13 | |
Many webmasters still have a thought over that. They find it tiring and what drains them of a lot of time. It causes them to worry about the positive results of their SEO efforts. So, is it worth the time and effort? Or, should you rather allocate your resources over other techniques? Let's find out.
A lot many of the people complain of not obtaining any results for their hard effort. If you were to say this, I would ask, what KIND of directories have you submitted to?
Now what does that mean or indicate? You need to do the judgement about the directories before you decide to embark your efforts on them – the judgement as to the quality of the directory you have selected to submit your website to. Have you chosen the right one for you?
1. Adsense log or directory?! Some directories are heavily loaded with ads. The very first glance of the directory might cause the visitor to blink away and move out. You too, should be walking away. They are perhaps there and more interested to reap money from the ads than putting up quality listing.
2. Indexing on major search engines You are for sure not going to sit on the home page. Therefore it is important to check if the page you will be included at is indexed in Google and Yahoo. If not, how would your presence make any difference to your ranking? Now it's upto you if you still choose to be it in the interest of direct traffic.
3. Cache Date This is very important. Check for the cache date of the inner pages (categories). If the cache date is fairly recent, it tells us that the directory page is favourable for the search spiders, ie., the pages are often crawled and are accessible. This will help you with respect to your ranking. Go for it.
4. Poor quality sites listed Check the directory for spammy keywords and see what comes up. If the listings are of poor quality ones, that's not where you deserved to be at.
5. Requiring reciprocal link Some of the directories accept links in exchange of a link to the directory from your website. How do you evaluate that? Perhaps they too are in a hunt for link popularity of their website just as you are and they found one nice way of getting it without having to go around. They have no emphasis on the quality of listing.
6. Guaranteed listing Some of the directories accept your listing for having submitted. There is no review made for acceptance or rejection. And you are more probably going to find junky sites there than useful, quality ones. Should you choose to be there?
7. Traffic Even if the directory may not be a good choice for submission in the light of SEO, you may hope to get some direct traffic. Do an analysis of the traffic volume for such directories. Use a combination of sites like Alexa, Compete, Quantcast etc for the purpose. If the directory has a high traffic volume, you may want to list your website there.
8. Deep link All the directories let you submit the main homepage. It might be an added advantage if a directory would allow deep linking should that necessitate in your case.
9. Google directory / Dmoz These are quality directories where submissions are subject to strict review. You may want to check if the directory is listed in them. A good way to tell the quality of the directory.
Directory submissions aid one way linking especially when they help you get relevant ones. They also bring you a good amount of direct traffic if rightly chosen. Even if some are a drop out from SEO perspective, it might be good to evaluate the directories for direct web traffic. In either ways, you benefit.
In short, directory submission is worth the time and effort if you simply do it right. Tags: Directory submission | SEO | Link Building | Link Building Tactics
